Key Stage 1 Class Teaching Assistant – Primary

Area: South Birmingham / Edgbaston

Salary: £60- £100 p/day

Start date: ASAP till the end of the academic year.

Hours of work: Full Time 8.30 till 3.45 Monday to Friday

Monarch Education are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in a Primary School. The role begins ASAP and will be based in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The ideal candidate will be supporting a child with mental health challenges, so we are looking for someone with experience and a compassionate attitude. The role is to support in Key Stage 1 with a year 2 pupil and experience within this age group would be advantageous although not essential.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have the ability and knowledge to support primary school pupils on a one to one and group basis
  • Experience working with children with a variety of learning abilities including those with SEN
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Must be able to commute to Birmingham.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willing to apply for one)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting a child with trauma and mental health challenges
  • Working on a one-to-one basis with a child
  • Supporting a child with play-based activities as well as helping support with the National Key Stage One Curriculum
  • Possibly managing difficult behaviour at times and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupil
  • Possible supervising on lunch and break times
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
