Learning Mentor for Children with SEMH Needs

Location: Birmingham

Pay: £83.33 – £96.80 a day

Start date: ASAP

35 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Are you passionate and motivated to make a difference to the lives of children who have experienced childhood trauma and have Social Emotional Mental Health needs?

Have you got experience working with children or adults who have SEND or Social Emotional or Mental Health needs? Have you worked as a support worker or in the care field? Perhaps you have a psychology or education related degree?

Monarch Education are honoured to work alongside a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities setting in the Birmingham area. This role will be full time (Mon – Fri) from 8:30 a.m – 3:30 p.m, term time only. However, the school will accept part-time hours for the right candidate.

What is the role available?

You would be working in an alternative provision primary and secondary school for 7 – 17 year old’s who have a variety of social, emotional and mental health needs. You will need to enable vulnerable students to regulate their emotions and to model and teach appropriate interactions. In addition to traditional teaching methods, you will also immerse students in interactive and outdoor learning experiences, therefore someone somewhat sporty or physically fit would be ideal.

  • Be open to practical or sensory ways of learning as well as using creativity to explore self-expression
  • Be caring and attentive
  • Be enthusiastic in their approach to learning
  • Be somewhat outdoorsy or sporty
